For a busy family like our homeowners, the kitchen needed to be a place where everyone could come together between rushing from soccer practice, school, work, or other engagements. In this Lynn Valley Renovation project, we took their dark, outdated, and separated space and completely transformed it. The non-load bearing walls between the kitchen,dining room, and family room were removed and an addition was added along the back of the home. Now, the family can take in their forested North Vancouver yard from anywhere in the space.

We updated the interior of the home with a new high-efficiency furnace, tankless hot water, kid- and dog-friendly engineered oak floors. The wood beams and natural live edge details compliment the clean lined white kitchen.

The kitchen also features a new double-wide fridge, built-in microwave, stove and rangehood, dishwasher, stainless steel sink, and a prep sink on the kitchen island. The beautiful, furniture-like kitchen island has a 2-sided overhang and deep recessed kick with comfortable seating for 4. It also provides ample food prep space for multiple cooks in the kitchen.

When doing renovations in Lynn Valley, or anywhere we always like to optimize the home’s position on the lot, as well as the possible views. With this home’s new, larger windows, and the addition of two sliding doors we have greatly improved the indoor outdoor flow.

The new deck fluidly wraps around the entire back of the house, seamlessly blending into its surroundings. The new deck provides easy access to the grassy backyard for the kids and pets, and the covered portion provides a dry place to BBQ, no matter the weather.
