North Vancouver Ravine Revamp
This 1,300 sqft home was originally built as a spec house in 1990 so very little attention was given to the finishes. The current owners of the home enjoy hosting parties and the home was no longer creating the party atmosphere they wanted.
They decided it was time to do a complete revamp of their home and hired us to do this North Vancouver home renovation.
North Vancouver Home Renovation, Starting with the Kitchen
In addition to having an outdated design, the kitchen layout was cramped and awkward. The pantry and storage were not very functional. We helped make this busy room more functional and beautiful so the homeowners would be proud to host parties again.
As part of this North Vancouver home renovation, we removed the awkward pantry room and replaced them with more compact cabinetry solutions that actually increased the usable storage space while taking up less floor area.
We used these space savings to install a fully functional kitchen island with bar seating for three. We also extended the cabinetry all the way to the ceiling to eliminate the dust on top of the cabinets.
The colour scheme of this kitchen blends now much better than the existing design. The white cabinets and counters provide a clean backdrop for the new floors which now extend seamlessly from the dining room to the kitchen.
We added a 9-foot folding door system on the back wall of the kitchen letting the backyard light and natural forest views come into the house. When guests enter the home through the front of the house, they can now see straight through to the backyard because we widened the entryway between the front hall and kitchen.
Low Maintenance Yard, Patio Area, Putting Green
The house backs on to a stunning ravine with large, mature maple and fir trees and 100% privacy, but the backyard design was dated and required too much upkeep. To minimize upkeep requirements, we installed AstroTurf and a putting green to replace the natural grass, eliminating the need for expensive lawn care. We also replaced the cedar fencing and pressure-treated wood retaining walls with block type retaining walls and aluminum railings.
The patio at the back of the house was also updated with smart-looking black aluminum side-mounted railings and composite deck flooring to match the pergola.
