Making the Most of Location

This condo was in a fantastic location, but the outdated suite was badly in need of a face lift, visually and functionally. The family wanted a modern look, with functional storage. Removal of existing walls proved challenging as electrical/plumbing required relocation. The My House Design/Build team also constrained by ceilings and concrete floors which couldn’t be cored out.

Careful and Innovative Detailing

We used simple, sleek furnishings and contemporary detailing keep compact space clutter-free. The integrated fridge blends perfectly into a cabinet-wall, and the yellow-tone, rich wood cabinets provide warm contrast to modern blue/grey paint-scheme.

Creativity in Design and Details

A consistent palette ties home together. With wide-plank engineered-hardwood flooring throughout, the home appears larger and well-coordinated.

Minimal bathroom tiling keeps space fresh and clean-looking. Bathroom cabinet-style mimics kitchen-cabinets, providing visual consistency. Under-cabinet lighting warms the bathroom and kitchen floor.

Efficient Use of Space, Still Meeting Strata-imposed Limitations  

Modern, open concept kitchen and living areas are key to home’s spacious feel. The large island functions as a breakfast-bar, food prep-station, gathering place and natural room-divider.  The kitchen pot lights (a challenge to install with concrete ceiling), were installed with creative ceiling drops.

Bathrooms feature suspended wall-cabinets, visually enlarging space. Clever wall-to-wall bathroom niche helps extend storage opportunities.

The My House team utilized materials to cover floor/wall space in areas where the Strata forbid building structure changes.

We also extended living space to outdoor patio by installing warm, inviting ‘Kand-Wood’ tiles.
